01

The agent

Chat in Ask, Agent, Plan, or Debug mode. Slash commands like /fix, /test, and /code-review. Attach context with @Web, files, and codebase search. Every edit is checkpointed.

// AI
02

The workbench

A native workbench: file explorer, editor groups and splits, command palette, settings, keybindings, and image preview. Layouts persist across every session.

// CORE
03

Source control

Git status, diffs, staging, and history — all in the Source Control view, right where you expect it.

// GIT
04

A true terminal

A real PTY in the panel. Interactive programs, resize, and multiple sessions — not a toy emulator.

// PTY
05

Languages & debug

LSP-powered completions, diagnostics, and navigation. DAP debug adapters, including a JavaScript adapter Dune can fetch for you.

// LSP + DAP
06

Themes that own the chrome

Color themes work as-is, plus extra Dune tokens for the window frame, floating cards, and traffic lights. Style the whole app, not just the editor.

// THEMES
07

Project intelligence

Lexical search plus a semantic codebase index powering @Codebase-style retrieval across your whole project.

// INDEX
08

Remote workspaces

Point the desktop app at a headless dune-server on another machine or container. Explorer, git, and terminal run against that remote folder.

// REMOTE
09

Cloud / headless agent

The same agent loop runs without a GUI via dune-headless or dune-cloud-agent — perfect for CI and background tasks.

// HEADLESS

  1. 01Ask

    Describe the change in chat. Attach @Codebase, @Git or @Web context with one keystroke.

  2. 02Plan

    Plan mode writes a checklist first. It can't edit files or run a shell until you approve the plan.

  3. 03Delegate

    Subagents take on parts of the work in parallel, each limited by the permission rules for its type.

  4. 04Review

    Every edit is checkpointed. Read the diff, keep it or restore it, then commit from the Git panel.

Ask, Agent, Plan, Debug

Four modes. One Hypery sign-in. Ask for answers, Agent for edits, Plan for a living checklist, Debug to hunt bugs down. Slash starters — /fix, /test, /docs — when you want a head start.

Skills

Reusable playbooks the agent actually follows. Teach it once, recall it forever — or let Dreaming mine new skills from how you already work.

Agent plugins

Rules, constitution, custom slash commands, modes, subagents, hooks, MCP — project-scoped or user-wide. Shape the agent without leaving your repo.

Works with Claude Code

Claude Code–shaped skills, commands, agents, and hooks — familiar if you already live there. Plus hybrid memory the agent can recall across sessions.

Dreaming

Idle-time self-improvement while the app is open. Memory consolidates, the index refreshes, skills get proposed — and every cycle is undoable.

Context, checkpoints, MCP

@Web, @Codebase, @Lint, @Git — attach live IDE state in one keystroke. Edits checkpoint automatically. MCP tools drop straight into the loop.

[01] BUILT-IN

Workbench modules

Explorer, Terminal, Git, Agent, Extensions, Remote. Disable non-core ones like a feature flag — they stay installed, they just do not activate.

Core always on
[02] VS CODE EXTENSIONS

Open VSX, installed

Install from Open VSX or drop a VSIX into ~/.dune/extensions. Dune also scans ~/.vscode and ~/.cursor extensions. Languages, grammars, themes, commands, keybindings.

[03] AGENT PLUGINS

Live next to your code

Skills, rules, commands, modes, subagents, and MCP servers under .dune/ (project) and ~/.dune/ (user). Project wins on name conflict. The agent is also an MCP client.

# the dune launcher, for your terminal$ brew install duneyou/dune/dune-ide-cli
# the headless workspace server — dune-server$ brew install duneyou/dune/dune-server

The cask installs the app only — add dune-ide-cli for the dune command. It is named dune-ide-cli so it never shadows Homebrew core's OCaml dune — the installed binary is still dune.

No. The editor, git, terminal, and extensions all work without one. Sign in to Hypery only when you want the agent — Ask, Agent, Plan, and Debug modes.
