Dune is a native desktop workbench with a Monaco editor, language servers, a debugger, a real terminal and a full Git UI, with an AI agent built in rather than bolted on. Here's what's inside.

Cmd+Shift+P opens the palette with commands you've run most recently listed first. Delete the > to jump to any file. Almost everything in Dune is a command, so you rarely reach for the mouse.

Editor groups split in any direction and nest into columns. Drag tabs between groups and dock views into either sidebar or the panel. Save a named layout for each kind of work and switch in one command. Layouts come back after a restart.

  • Splits, nested columns, pinned tabs and drag-and-drop between every tab strip
  • Primary and secondary sidebars, plus dockable views and chat
  • Named layouts, restored with your session

Turn on inline suggestions and completions appear as ghost text while you type; Tab accepts. Select code and press Cmd+K to describe a change in place. Next-edit suggestions predict where you'll edit next, and AI code actions fix diagnostics from the lightbulb.

  • Separate models for completion (fast) and Cmd+K edits (strong)
  • Next-edit suggestions and AI quick fixes
  • Billed as AI credits on your Hypery account

Stage, diff and commit from the Source Control view. Browse a commit graph with branches and tags, open history for a file, read blame inline, and resolve merge conflicts in a dedicated view. It updates live as files change, whether you, a terminal or the agent changed them.

  • Commit graph with refs and a detail pane
  • Blame, file history and a conflict resolution view
  • Branch, ahead/behind and checkout from the chat's branch bar

Terminals in the panel are real shells: interactive programs, resizing and colors all work. Run as many as you need. Reload the window and running terminals reattach with their scrollback, so a dev server or a long build keeps going.

dune-server is a headless workspace (files, Git and terminals) over HTTP and WebSocket. Point the desktop app at it directly or over an SSH tunnel, and the explorer, Git and terminals all run on that machine. Dune Cloud runs persistent workspaces for you that open from the app, a browser or an iPad.
